WHAT IS FASCIA AND WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH YOUR WELLBEING?
The fascial system interpenetrates and surrounds all organs, muscles, bones and nerve fibres, endowing the body with a functional structure, and providing an environment that enables all body systems (Nervous system, Immune system and Circulatory system) to operate in an integrated manner.
Structurally, the fascia system suspends, supports, and enables ALL anatomical movement from skin to cells and everything in between.
When fascia is restricted (by immobility, injury, or lifestyle), it gets compressed, shortens, and space is diminished within joints and the entire body.
Pain and reduced function is often the result, negatively impacting many aspects of your life.
FASCIA’S ROLE IN THE AGING PROCESS
Evidence from the scientific literature demonstrates that senescence is associated with increased stiffness and reduced elasticity of fascia, as well as loss of skeletal muscle mass, strength, and regenerative potential.
When we address imbalances and restricted fascia through exercise (Essentrics) and manual therapy (Fascial Stretch Therapy - FST), your body is set free. Then your mind, spirit and world opens to live your life as it is meant to be.
